| Army suicides are at their highest level in 20 years. Statistics indicate that every day approximately five US soldiers try to take their own lives. This unfortunate statistic astounded me. So upon hearing this, I wanted to help build awareness of this tragedy and show 1-800-SUICIDE as a resource for veterans/families in crisis. |
 |
| To illustrate the tragedy that is happening to our soldiers, I wanted to combine the visuals of “Support of Our Troops” and a strong icon of suicide. Everyone knows that the yellow ribbon stands for military support, yet seeing it upside down in the form of a noose is a very startling visual. Based on the reactions of those who saw this icon, I knew I had succeeded in creating an effective and controversial image. |
