PHIL JONES

Hi. My name is Phil Jones and I'm a graphic designer and art director in Minneapolis, MN. I am currently working as a full-time freelance designer. I just moved to Minneapolis after two years as a designer/art director for Wray Ward. There I was a designer on accounts like AAA, WIX Filters and Chicago Pneumatic, Discovery Place and McColl Center for Visual Art. In addition to "for profit" work, I have donated my time and talent to develop campaigns for the American Red Cross, Humane Society, Hopeline – Vet2Vet Suicide Hotline and Save the Children.

A native of Kentucky, I earned a bachelors degree in advertising from Murray State University, followed by an internship at Doe-Anderson. Through this internship, I was able to build a strong foundation for my career as a graphic designer, working diligently on accounts like Maker’s Mark and NRHA. Shortly after my internship I joined Mindsalt – a small design shop in Louisville that specializes in entrepreneurial branding and identities. I continued to work at Mindsalt for the next two years as one of only three designers. This experience forced me to learn the many facets of design, client relations and production. I participated in new business ventures and learned much about project management.

After my two-year stint at Mindsalt, I packed up for my now wife, moved to Charlotte, and began working for Wray Ward. Now with an additional two years under my belt we packed up and moved up north to allow my wife to pursue her masters at the University of Minnesota. Whether at work or out in the community, I try to seize every opportunity to learn the many facets of design. Every exciting idea has the potential to turn into an adventure – not knowing what lies behind the next door keeps life interesting.
